About Our Island Home
Our Island Home is a 45-bed Skilled Nursing Facility dually licensed in Medicaid and Medicare since August 2007 and owned by the Town of Nantucket.
The administration and staff strive to provide high quality care, based upon customized care plans to meet each individual resident’s needs – while preserving their independence and dignity.
Donations
MOREDonations
100% of donations go directly to goods and services for the Residents of Our Island Home and are tax-deductible. Friends of Our Island Home has established a charitable fund through the Community Foundation for Nantucket. They take care of all financial reporting for donors and then fund specific requests approved by the FoOIH Board of Directors.
Collaboration
MORECollaboration
We encourage collaboration with businesses and individuals who have something to share. From Pizza to Patio Furniture to Website design and maintenance, we can find ways to add to the quality of life for residents from our generous community. Every little bit counts! We thank the businesses and individuals that have stepped forward to help us launch this initiative.
Our Impact
MOREOur Impact
FoOIH as a private, non-profit entity, can raise funds and pay directly for goods and services that are first requested by department heads, residents, family members etc. and then approved by the administrator. We modeled our approach to the successful Friends of the Nantucket Public Schools – who successfully help students and teachers beyond what the school system can provide.
Friends of Our Island Home
We are an organization of children, grandchildren, spouses, community members and friends whose purpose is to enrich the daily lives of Our Island Home residents

“Caring for seniors is a labor of love and requires a special person”
Elderly care, or simply eldercare (also known as aged care), is the fulfillment of the special needs and requirements that are unique to senior citizens. This broad term encompasses such services as assisted living, adult day care, long-term care, nursing homes, hospice care, and home care.
Because of the wide variety of elderly care found nationally, as well as differentiating regional perspectives on elderly citizens, it cannot be limited to any single practice.
