The Nantucket community is invited to attend a vital public forum discussing the facts surrounding the proposed plan to save Our Island Home, Nantucket’s only skilled nursing facility. The event will take place on April 10, 2025, at the Dreamland Theater, with free tickets available for RSVP.
With rising construction costs affecting the island, the need to build a new facility for Our Island Home has become an urgent matter. While the cost of a skilled nursing home may seem significant, it is important to consider the alternative—sending our loved ones off the island to access necessary care. This shift would separate residents from their families, friends, and the close-knit community they hold dear.
The forum will bring together community members, business leaders, and local representatives to explore this critical issue and present a plan of action. Supporting the construction of a new Our Island Home is more than just a financial decision—it’s an investment in our elders, our community, and the values that make Nantucket unique.
