Love Blooms at Our Island Home—Adopt a Container Program
Join us in spreading joy and beauty at Our Island Home! Back in 2020, The Friends of Our Island Home initiated “Love Blooms at Our Island Home” to bring positivity to a challenging year and beautify the harbor front patio with summer flowers. Now, as we emerge from COVID restrictions in 2023, we’re inviting the Nantucket Community to join us in this heartwarming endeavor.
Earlier this summer, our board member Debbie Bechtold is leading the Love Blooms Adobe a Container campaign. It’s a simple and fun way to bring love and color to OIH.
Debbie Bechtold shared, “Overall, this program has been a huge success. All containers were adopted for this season! The colors and texture of the planted material are amazing, and they have delighted residents, families, visitors, staff, and volunteers.”
We want to extend a big thank you to those who have already adopted planters: Julie Hilburg-Hunt, Jennifer Doble, Madison Phelan, and Kathy Grieder. We also want to acknowledge Island Lumber for their donation of potting soil and Bartletts Farm for their support—special thanks to Debbie Bechtold and our generous anonymous donor. The kitchen staff is truly grateful for the herb garden; they will use these fresh herbs all season long!
